Oh my god, the same thing happened to me in Ireland; everyone kept trying to find us restaurants that were “western” themed (I’m from Vancouver, Canada), thinking they were making us feel more comfortable.
The question is did it really feel like home?
Try moving over there. You can bet your life that the first three years will be taken up with people dragging you to “Fish & Chip” restaurants.
