(note) streamline.net are still incompetant

Hi there, notice my site was down for over 4 hours again this morning. Apparently its a known error with my mysql server. The irony is none of this would have happened with blogger. Anyway, apparently hey are looking into it, ta.

Hey, if you hate your host, check out VISOX.com - I’ve used many a host, and Kacy and her team are the best. They started out small, and Kacy was a cam gal who decided to get into the adult hosting game, she was originally NakedHosting.com, but also go by Visox to lure in the non-XXX folk too. I like them because they always work so hard to make sure their hosting is the best. Andy Dunn used to have an amazing net newsletter, and NakedHosting was his favorite host hands down, so we tried them. I also like the idea that if they are willing to host adult content, my weirdo art is not too weird for them, so I don’t feel strange going, Hi this is Jay from evilBay.com I need an issue resolved. I always wonder, what is it like to call around and say, Hello, I’m looking for hosting for my site: RabidAlbinoAnalMidgets.com - you know? I just would feel so strange, maybe that’s why I never lived my dream of being a pornographer. I guess it takes a certain type that is bolder than I. I figure anything I toss Visox’s way could never be as bizarre as the other sites they host. Plus I love that they support “free speech” regardless. Anyway, Visox rules, I’ve hosted over 200 dot coms there for about a decade, and never had a single problem. 24 hour support, and really nice people that seem to be having fun at work. (NO I don’t work for them, I simply know a good thing when I have it). Love your work. It inspires the hell outta me. Take care, ~ evilBay Jay.

Yeah they look OK - I like the unlimited domains bit but they don’t offer very much web space, as shit as mine has been recently at least i know I will never run out of space even if nobody can see it.

Her is an example of the crap streamline produce. They are useless!!!! Read from the bottom up.

A lot of people are telling me that my inbox is full and emails are being bounced out but I have cleared my files twice now and in folder manager it tells me 1% of space is used. I need this sorted quickly because I am losing a lot of business and also company image. This happened last month too.

    Hi Ben Cox,

    Thank you for your query

What setting(s) (including username/passwords) are you using to connect with and error(s) are you recieving when you try to connect?

Where the hell does user name and password come into my problem?!! people who send me emails are having them bounced back with the error that the mailbox disc is full. In fact I have cleared my mailboxes out twice and the usage is only 1% so there is loads of space on my mailbox disc but people are still having emails bounced back with the error message. I can access my account fine and have no problems with login etc.

    I connect with xxxxxx @ xxxxxxxx.com, mail.xxxxxxxx.com, xxxxxx

The error message is via return email to people sending me emails and it says that my mailbox disc is full This is crap because the mailbox disc is only 1% used. You are not reading my responses and are not addressing this problem. I need a telephone call from a manager. My number is xxxx xxxxxxx

P.S. If this is not dealt with I will be posting these communications on web hosting forums.

    Hi Ben Cox,

    Thank you for your query

Unfortunately we do not offer telephone support.

Your mailbox is being shown as using 40% usage so this should not be the issue unless the emails hav elarge atachments?

I am still having problems with people having emails bounced back from my email addresses. Their return report says my mailbox disc is full when in fact I have been making a point of keeping it clear since this problem started. In addition when I open my mail inbox it always seems to be waiting for a mail to download. This problem I hilighted a year ago and was told that it was a problem your end and that it would be fixed. I also have a problem that when I send quotes to clients which contain pound symbols and numbers, if I go into my sent email box to check them at a later date the figures and pound symbols have disapeared. Recently I also had a client tell me that a quote I had sent through had all of the detail except the figures were missing. All of the above is damaging my business.

And what of the issue that emails that are sent out with figures in do not hae the figures in when checked in the sent box, and that sometimes the figures are not in the email to the client. Please tell me in what way you sent and checked an email to the inbox.

    Hi Ben Cox,

    Thank you for your query

We sent an email via our mail client which was received in your inbox.

Please clarify the exact issue you are having with the figures as we are unsure what you are referring to.

Today I have sent a quote to a client and the pound sign came through their end as - “B#”. A client yesterday got a pound sign but no figures. Come on what is this, offer some support here!

    Hi Ben Cox,

    Thank you for your query

It appears this was an issue with a setting within your webmail interface Account Preferences

So does this mean you’ve fixed it or do I have to address the “issue with a setting within your webmail interface Account Preferences”?

Streamline.net The home of crap hosting.

I am having major issues with this company myself.

My issue is basically my domain went completely from the face of the earth. See domain link, this is what the issue is when visitors see the site.

    So what happened?

I could not log into the FTP server, I could not change passwords and when they eventually changed my password for me to be able to log into FTP, what I found was a missing “htdocs” folder and “private” folder had also gone missing.

Raising this issue with them has taken 2 weeks to get login access but no cigar on the htdocs folder front.

I have asked them several times to just “Make” those folders as I do not have the required directory permissions to make or delete those folders nor do I have permissions in the FTP Root to upload to it, only into the htdocs folder which is non-existent at present.

I do seriously advise against people against posting of threads to support tickets from ANY web host as this opens up the opportunity for the web host to take legal action against yourself as well as the site owner of this site for allowing the content to be publicly displayed.

You are however, well within your rights to voice “Your” opinions as a consumer of the service and relay your experience.

What you should be doing is this.

Contact the local regulator for consumer rights, in the UK it will be covered by Trading Standards.
They will advise you, you will need to get them to register your complaint and issue you with an incident number.
As soon as you have an incident number, in the UK call Ofcom and ask them to register a complaint against Streamline.net as they did in my case.
Write to streamline.net customer services and make sure that the item is sent “RECORDED DELIVERY” not “SIGNED FOR” as the signed for service does not have to be signed for! if the postie has no time to wait, they do not have to get a signature, so RECORDED DELIVERY ONLY!!! it will cost more but means that they can not wriggle out of the situation with the excuse that “We have not got it” or “We didn’t receive it”.

They have 14 WORKING days (translates to 3 weeks as Sat/Sun is not classed as a working day) to reply to you, you have to state that under the law “Goods & Services Act 1982″ they are currently in breach of contract.

You are also entitled to damages / compensation as stated in that section of consumer law.

You have to illustrate how they have fallen into breach of contract. In my case, because I paid 2 years in advance, they have failed under the warranty laws in the Goods & Services act. Had this been a traditional consume service and bill payment in arrears, they would be under no obligation to provide any service until any arrears have been paid. Because they are demanding payment for services in advance, the law is a bit different here and they are in breach of contract when they fail to deliver the goods, in my case it is open and shut because of the issue of my site just disappearing when I did nothing to it, they are claiming I deleted the site. I asked for proof of this seeing as I has no broadband for 4 and a half months in the period the site vanished.

If you get nowhere, you need to then enlist the help of a solicitor to send a letter to basically scare them into action.

I am expecting to have the blow off from this lot but if they do… I have legal help from someone who can whip of a letter to them sharpish to make them sit up and listen.

It is important that everyone who is experiencing issues with this host or any other host to call Ofcom, the more complaints that they get the more likely it is that a regulator will be set up that will demand certain standards because at present these people are not regulated nor governed by the telecoms regulations, it is a free for all and they can do pretty much how they please.

Why I am P’d off with them is they have basically left me in a situation where I could be sued because of their lack of service delivery.

Good luck people, one day they will ALL be regulated ;)
