Not all American christians are fundamentalist whack jobs...but sadly, many are. Don't let Jesus Camp fool you, there are many christians who don't want to force their views on unwilling listeners. There are christians who want to make the world a better place by working against injustice and working towards reconciliation.

I'm sorry, I'm starting to do the very thing I said I was against - preaching.

    I'll stop now.

This blog always puts a smile on my face.

Hi, First of all i would just like to say i am a christian and i'm sorry for all the hypacritical "whack-jobs" who make these goofie movies and minipulate people. I am probably more disgusted than you will ever know. I probably disagree with many of your views if not every one, but that is beside the point. You can do whatever you feel is right with this comment, i will perfectly understand if it is not published.
But please, read it. Read it from beginning to end and over again. I am about to explain to you why i am a christian.
I'm not sure if you believe if there is a God or not, but when i walk out my door i see something so beautiful, so grand, so organized that i can't move my self to believe that it all came about by chance. Just as every watch has a builder, every car has a designer, everything we know has a creator, This world has got to have a designer, builder, and creator. I could go on. But trufully i think everyone knows this to be true. If people could stop lieing to themselves perhaps they could see. I also believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Why?? Because it has lasted all these years when so many try to destroy it, it is the number one best seller of all time, i can find no error or fault in it, and finaly, it is the only book that provides an answer for the problem of man kind.
If you find this all hard to believe, then just say what if. What if God is real, and his Word is the inspired Bible?? If it's not, you have nothing to loose. But please find out if it is. Beacause if it is then your in trouble. Why??
If You Read Nothing, read this please. It is the true story of my life.
I realized that God had commandments that he wanted kept, so i tried to keep them. But something was wrong. I couldn't. I saw the 9th commandment. Thow shalt not lie. I cannot count how many times i've lied. The 8th commandment. Thow shalt not steel. I have stollen more then just material things. Jesus said(paraphraseing) "you've heard the old 7th commandment thow shalt not commit adaultery. I say whoever looks in lust after someone has commited it in there heart.) I could go on forever.
I Am So Wicked. Please read the ten commandments(google search)and see how you do. I have done soo much wrong, if you could only see a small fraction of what i've done you would be disgusted with me. Have you google searched yet?? Huh?
Oh, you've never murdered?? Jesus said to hate someone with unjust wrath is really murdering that person in your heart. God excepts nothing but the best. Your probably not a bad as person as i am, but i know this. If you are human you are evil.
The Bible says that after death we our juged by God. These are his standerds. Do you see now why you are in trouble?? There are two places heaven, or hell. No one is good enough for heavan.
If you want that answer i said the Bible gives.
    1. look at these commandments.
    2. If you sincerly want to know find my email adress on my profile page and contact me. The answer is the most precious thing i know. I value it more than my life.
    In all sincerity, TwiceBorn

Hi there i certainly don't want to get all religious, but i just wanted to say that i think christians are awesome or douches just like anyone but it's the psychos that kill in the name of religion that scare the shit out of me. Also in this film the way they yapped on about how their religion was the only true one, how can you ever know that!?

It should have been called brainwashing camp.

In jesus' day they thought that diseases were caused by demons and evil spirits and could be fixed with prayer.

With the invention of the microscope, we now know that diseases are caused by germs, bacteria and viruses.

The people that wrote the bible thought that the earth was flat and all there was, they were incredibly stupid.

Why do a certain kind of Christian never stop evangelising. Everywere you go, they pop up, I posted a film on youtube and in the comments amongst the inanities of dannish geeks there where random blessings and declaration of religious piety. As for the minichoppers you need one of those missle units that fires foam darts!!

Not all fundalmental Christians are weirdos. Most make a positive difference in the world but it's the few off the wall ones who are in the limelight.

P.s. to the person who said the people that wrote the Bible thot the earth was flat, you are showing your ignorance. Technically God wrote the Bible and he created the earth. He's known about blog for ever and we are just figuring it out. Joke's on us.

And to Lisa, making fun of "twice born" read the last book of the Bible. God wins, Satan loses. End of story.

The people in the Bible knew the difference between someone who was demon possessed and someone with a disease. Get real. Read the gospels.

    Hi Great Blog!

I'm American and grew up middle-class but luckily I avoided the evangelical brainwashing unleased on some of my kin. I was brought to church by my parents until I was old enough to opt out. It did'nt seem to take.

I'm not sure what's going on over here but I have a feeling that it's fear based and that somehow the fundamentalist doctrine makes some people not so scared. I'm trying to not be scared of them.

My grandmother was a Baptist and she had no obvious plans for world domination.

    Adios

    Hello,

strivin' is right it's unfair to call all fundamentalists weirdos, I'm sure some of them are really nice.

But really, if you don;t want to be seen as a religious nut then I wouldn't go around quoting the bible at people and questioning peoples beliefs (or lack there of) it show's a great deal of insecurity, not to mention lack of faith! Like I happen to think Star trek the next generation is by far the best star trek series, but I don't feel the need to go yelling at everyone about it - because I am secure in my beliefs (that it IS THE BEST!!! Voyager is dog shit!)

Excellent post! Unfortunately too many Americans are voting for politicians today based on Religion, race and gender.

I do however feel that everyone in every country needs some sort of spiritual guide but that they need not focus in on that in the Political forum.

I am sorry that the American Communist pigs have come to your country and tried to force their ethics and culture upon your people and especially your children. I wish it were only religion here we had to worry about...

Please keep these tapes away from them "by any means necessary". These are not an example of all religion in America just what is going on in our Castle..err White House that is; a representation of the American Governing bodies not society as a whole-even though the people are ALLOWING it to go on. >:(

Take Good Care and Beware of the REd, White and Blue Meanies!

I think that the_lonetomato said it very well and it wasn't preaching. I am an American Christian who is very conservative when it comes to interpreting the Bible. I wasn't always that way. Before I became a believer, my days, weeks, and months were very much like Local Girl's: easily upset, angry, brittle. Becoming a believer in Christ DOES NOT smooth the path, but it definitely provides a context for life that no other belief system provides. All the best to you, Local Girl...

I grew up in North Dakota, the state where the brainwashing camp takes place. I didn't even know about it until I saw the movie last year. I'm thankful my mum never put me through any horrors like that--just Catholic school. I'm even thankful for that, without which I may have never reclaimed my atheism. Love your blog!
